Chimney Capper (Round)

Rain entry into redundant chimneys is one of the main causes of structural decay to chimney stacks. The decay, caused by the natural freeze/thaw cycle of the weather, can ultimately cause great expense. Water works its way into the mortar between the brickwork and as it freezes, expands, eventually leading to cracks in the brickwork.

The Brewer Chimney Capper offers a simple solution at a low price that prevents rain, bird and debris entry while still allowing nominal ventilation.

Details

We manufacture and powder coat these Chimney Cappers in our own factory here in England.

What is it for?

If you have a chimney that you are not using at all - otherwise known as redundant or dead - a Chimney Capper will save you a host of chimney problems in the future. By stopping virtually all rain entry, it will assist in prolonging the life of the chimney. By frustrating birds and squirrels who are looking for a new home, the chimney stays clean and sound with the nominal ventilation included in the design.

What sizes & options are available?

A Chimney Capper will fit onto a standard round chimney pot 150mm to 250 mm internal diameter (6" to 10").

Made from aluminium and available in natural (unpainted), or powder coated terracotta, buff or black.

How do I fit one?

Once up on the roof, it is the work of a few minutes to attach the Chimney Capper using the stainless steel strap provided.

Some fitters prefer our original 'hook and bolt' fitting method and sometimes it may be the only option if there is not enough pot showing out of the chimney stack or if the pot is straight (meaning that a strap would have nothing to prevent it from sliding off the pot). However, we do not recommend the hook bolt method unless your chimney is in tip-top condition.

What if it won't fit?

As manufacturers in the UK, we also make Square Chimney Cappers, and different sizes to order. Stainless steel and sleeve versions can also be made. Just give us a ring or email us for details and prices. We can normally have a special unit delivered to you within 10 working days of your order.

** Please note, chimney pots are not included.

Important Note

We advise that your chimney or flue is inspected and swept by a qualified chimney sweep before fitting a chimney cowl or terminal. We also recommend using a professional to specify the correct product for your fuel, chimney system, size and needs. If you require any help or advice please call us on 01243 539639.

We cannot take responsibility for any terminal or cowl that has not been specified or fitted by a professional and is not suitable for your application.
