Details
The Aerodyne Cowl is made in our own factory here in England.
What is it for?
If you have a problem with wind related downdraught caused by nearby tall buildings/trees or incorrect chimney height, this can manifest as both a lack of draw (updraught) and as a downdraught problem.
As one of the original anti downdraught cowls and having been in constant production for over 50 years, the Aerodyne Cowl has certainly proven its worth when it comes to curing issues with wind related downdraught. When wind from any direction passes through the cowl, the unique venturi shaped surfaces cause a drop in air pressure which draws smoke and fumes up the chimney for a more efficient dispersal into the atmosphere.
The Aerodyne Cowl is for use with solid fuel (wood and coal) systems only with the option of additional clip on birdguard sets to prevent the entry of birds, vermin, and leaves into your chimney.
What sizes & options are available?
An Aerodyne cowl can be fitted to a standard size round chimney pot with internal diameters between 150mm to 240mm (6” – 9.5”).
The Aerodyne is made in aluminium and is available in natural unpainted, or powder coated terracotta, buff or black.
An additional clip on birdguard set is available if desired to help prevent birds and debris from entering your flue.
How do I fit one?
The Aerodyne Cowl can be fitted via 3 separate methods:
- Strap – the most secure method of fixing the cowl to the pot achieved with the use of external legs that are bent around a stainless steel strap which encircles the pot.
- Clamp – four adjustable hook bolts engaging on the inner face of the chimney pot.
- Sleeve – an expanding sleeve engages the full internal circumference of the chimney pot providing a stable, unseen, and secure fitting.
** Please note, chimney pots are not included.
